Meet Britta

Dr. Britta D. Caudill, DSW, LCSW-S, CFRC
Founder and Clinical Director

Most clients simply call me Dr. B.

As a telehealth-only provider, I prefer to work with clients age 13 and older. I work Monday-Friday and usually finish sessions by 3:00 p.m., with 4:00 p.m. being the latest, so my schedule is often not a good fit for children needing appointments outside of school hours. I will accommodate special circumstances on an individual basis. Zayda & Kris are both excellent providers as well and they offer evening appointments!

I founded NewWay Health because I believe mental health care should put people before productivity and therapists should be appreciated for quality work. After more than 17 years in behavioral health, I wanted to create a practice where therapists have time to truly know their clients and every decision begins with one question:

“What is genuinely best for the client?”

My Approach

My approach is practical, honest, and centered around you. I want to help you understand the “why” behind your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors because it is much easier to work on something when you understand what it is and why it is happening.

I also do not believe in rushing people into the most painful parts of their lives before they feel safe and prepared. We build trust and practical coping skills first, then move at a pace you can handle. We cannot change the past, but we can change how you understand it and how much control it continues to have over your life.

My Goals for You

You do not have to dread therapy. There will be difficult conversations, but therapy does not have to be miserable. We may laugh, celebrate progress, talk about the good things happening in your life, and work through the hard things when they come.

My goal is not to keep you in therapy forever or see how many sessions I can bill your insurance for. I want you to build the confidence, perspective, and skills to eventually move forward without needing me—while knowing I will still be here if you need support again.

My Experience

I earned my Doctorate in Clinical Social Work from the University of Kentucky and have more than 17 years of behavioral health experience. I work with trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief, burnout, substance use concerns, and co-occurring conditions. I am also a Certified First Responder Counselor and the only doctorate-level CFRC in Kentucky, with extensive experience supporting first responders, medical professionals, parents, and others who spend much of their lives caring for everyone else.

I also created NewWay Health’s Functional Living Program for people whose symptoms are making everyday life difficult and who need more structure and support than weekly therapy alone may provide. Mental health struggles are hard enough without shame or judgment. Here, the focus is on practical support, useful skills, and finding a new way forward.

More Than A Therapist

I was born and raised in Eastern Kentucky and am a proud wife to my best friend and mother of two. When I am not working, I am usually spending time with my family and animals, enjoying the sunshine, working in my flowers, or finding an old piece of furniture to repurpose.

My family keeps me grounded and reminds me how important life is every day. I am a real person just like everyone else. I am doing my best, learning as I go, and no I am not perfect. I don’t believe perfection is something any of us can or should strive for, because it simply doesn’t exist. In fact, trying to be perfect often sets us up to feel like we are failing, even when we are not.

Life is busy, imperfect, meaningful, and full all at the same time... but it can be beautiful. That perspective shapes the way I approach therapy. Healing is not about creating a perfect life, it is about developing the skills and confidence to be present for the life you already have.

Finding the Right Therapist Matters

Therapy works best when you feel comfortable, understood, and able to be honest. I want you to have a good idea of who you are scheduling with before your first session.

• I am straightforward and honest, and I tend to say things plainly. That will not be the right fit for everyone, but it is great for others.

• I have tattoos, and I believe in God, but I will never push my beliefs onto you. I respect that people have different backgrounds, beliefs, opinions, and ways of seeing the world. You do not have to think like me for me to respect and support you. I actually love hearing and learning about other peoples' ways of life and beliefs. That is what makes us all unique!

• You do not have to clean up your story before you tell it to me. I am not here to judge you, I promise I have heard worse.

• I will ask questions, challenge your perspective when needed, and help you notice things that may be difficult to see on your own. I enjoying teaching as I go. It is much easier to fix things when we understand why we need to.

• You are in control of your treatment. I will not rush you into discussing something before you are ready or make decisions about your life for you.

• Not everyone connects well with every therapist, and that is okay. Please tell me if I am not the right fit. There will be no hard feelings. I would rather help you find someone who can offer what you need than have you remain uncomfortable or stop showing up.

I genuinely care about the people I work with. I love what I do, take pride in it, and will be present and invested in helping you move forward.
